In the science fiction world of Enders Game the future is progressed by fear. this is the fear of not knowing what is coming next. for example ender doesent know what will happen in the future. he doesent know when the Buggers will come to Earth and attempt to destroy everything. he doesn't know weather he will win the battle against the buggers in the future. and ender does not know how he will destroy the buggers and weather he will sucseed in his mission against the buggers.
this topic also relates to the world we live in, not just in the science fiction world of Enders game. for example the first space launch to the moon. they didn't know weather they would reach their target or weather the space ship would blow up whilst they were still on the launch pad. But they wouldnt have known weather they would suceed or not without launching the ship and becoming the first people to set foot on the moon. if it it wasn't for fear of the future we would not be where we are now.
