It was 2032 and I decided to travel to South America just for a bit of fun after our final of school. We left three weeks after school had finished. We took off on 17 hour flight on our bowing A380.
We were eleven hours into the flight and it was three o'clock in the morning and everyone on the plane was asleep including me. We were flying over the South Pacific Ocean and there was a small amount of turbulence which woke me up but i soon fell back to sleep. About half an hour later i heard and explosion out of my window. So i opened my shutter and both engines on the plane had exploded!
There was a fire that turned night into day, and the plane was shaking like an earth quake and everyone on the plane woke up and there was uproar. The noisy crowd was told to sit down as the plane was plummeting down to the centre of the South Pacific Ocean.
The plane hit the water with a sudden thud. The air hostesses were rushing to get emergency supplies ready. They were directing us to the exits as hastily as possible. Everyone had a look off fright on their face as they were running towards the exits.
Everyone was able to escape onto the yellow life rafts, but one man fractured his leg as a result of the impact. About five minutes after everyone had escaped, the plane exploded. It was like fireworks on New Year’s Eve.
We had been on the rafts for three days now and my throat felt like the Sahara desert from the lack of water, and I felt absolutely starved.
On the fourth day we spotted a little island in the distance. We all were relieved we were jumping around with excitement! And were so relieved that we might finally have a chance of getting back to civilisation.
About an hour later we finally reached the shores of the island. It was picturesque, with the white shores, blue water, and thick, lush bushland behind it all. That night we had huge a feast of fish, tropical fruits which included coconuts, water melon, bananas, pineapples, and jack fruit.
The next day a helicopter flew by so we all frantically signalled in hope that it would see us.
Two days later three large coast guard boats came and pulled up on the beach to come and rescue us. We were all frantic that they came. We got to Argentina, but I decided to go home and come back another time. It was an experience that I will not be forgetting any time soon.
